A marriage (or flirtation) of convenience to try and show the electorate that they were trying to do the best for the country. TBH maybe a cross party negotiation with the EU should have been the order of the day from the get go.

All back to indicative votes and another go at The Mayhem deal then ? I guess she goes after another defeat and another Tory leader has a last punt at getting agreement with Brussels before it becomes a no deal , no Brexit decision . Whether that decision is made in Brussels ,Westminster or in UK ballot boxes remains to be seen .

The problem is that we are smarter than our elected representatives. If Doris had said thanks and goodbye in June 2016, most of our problems would have been over by the autumn and right now we would be commiserating with Gerry and the rest of the Micks about the way the EU is shafting the Republic over its overdue tax. But there you are. You don't have to be bright to be in politics.
