While the English have Lord Bucket Head, the Scottish have, in the words of a clearly worried BBC reporter, "a man in armour wielding a claymore"

The occasion ? Jessie Rae joined a (rather honourable, if I say so myself) tradition of quirky eccentric but clearly dedicated individuals seeking to offer themselves as agents of political change in their community. He was allowed into the hustings to answer electors questions on condition he left the claymore locked away outside the meeting.....

And the taxpayer is in like manner entitled to be astute to prevent, so far as he honestly can, the depletion of his means by the Inland Revenue"

The new parliamentary democracy,it's not the will of the people that counts but the will of 650......will come back to haunt them.
