Ah, OK, I thought the dates were out a bit. Thanks.

I think the newspaper article I dug out is well put; I suspect the circumstances are very different today especially the lack of point in tactical voting.

Yes, I think a black party leader could find themselves in No.10 after a general election. I can't think of any imminent contenders but I'm sure there will be some in the future.

Perhaps we might even have a Labour leader who is black and female. However, despite their constant aspirations at political correctness, they have not even got half way there.
The Tories are on their 2nd female prime minister.
    New Brexit party seems OK

No, I was suggesting one that might be compus mentus, like Margaret Thatcher was. Not sure about Theresa May, mind you.

Nah, The Blessed Margaret (PBUH lol) was truly a one-off. A female Nigel Farage, if you will?

    An advance on Labour then

My real fear is that Britain will follow the lead of the USA which has surely seen its last white, married, heterosexual man on the Democrat party ticket to run for the White House

Bit genderist if you will pardon my saying so Barry.

Why cant we have a Labour leader who is black and transgender?

I know the Tories had Ted Heath, but he was white.
