    Some good news

This is a Facebook post from an MP who posts for his local area.

    Export Success
I normally keep this blog to local issues, but as some residents may remember, I also serve in the unpaid role as the Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Canada. There is a huge amount of Canadian investment in our area, including in our ports.
Forgive me a little bit of gloating and joy as this week the Canadian Government signed a $60 billion dollar contract for their next generation of frigates. They wisely chose the BAE Systems British design of the Type 26. This is a campaign I supported in my role as Trade Envoy to Canada undertaking a number of trips to support the work the UK High Commission in Canada did supporting this process. Great news for the UK and although the the ships for the Canadian Royal Navy will be built in Canada, there are benefits back to the UK economy.
Moreover, with Australia also choosing this design for their next generation of frigates we will have the Royal Navy (our ships are already being built on the Clyde), the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Australian Navy operating on the shame ship. This means we have huge capability for interoperability between our forces but also an opportunity to collaborate during the construction phase to ensure industrial and economic benefits to all three countries.
Well done to our team at MoD and in the UK High Commission who led this campaign.

See, it's not all doom and gloom!
Argh, typo in the title, please make it good mods.

The new parliamentary democracy,it's not the will of the people that counts but the will of 650......will come back to haunt them.

On the BBC news just I heard a report that 1 in 10 businesses would possibly lose their business if we drop out with no deal. Now that must also be good news - only 1 in 10. I thought it was going to be Armageddon.
My vote counts just as much as your's xx

Recently, there was a headline that a third of businesses will leave the UK and move to Europe. There is a programme on Radio 4 where the presenter looks deeper into the headlines, and he didn't quite believe this as he took into account pubs, cafes, bakeries etc that couldn't move, the smaller businesses. He discovered that they asked 30 businesses and a third said they would move to the EU. That is not exactly what the headline suggested.

I am presuming this is with Switzerland?

    ==============

I am so tired of the self-loathing and putting down of this country that so many (in this country) undertake to show what a failure we are and how we have to be in the EU.

As for the OP, I put "Canada frigate BAE" into Google, and found these results under the news section: https://www.google.com/search?q=Cana...w=1920&bih=947

Not one report from British news sources. Now they may well come, but they should be shouting about this, shouldn't they??
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

It was on the MPs Facebook page on the 8th February, it should have arrived in the headlines by now.

I agree about the self-loathing, we can survive! People ask who will do our jobs in the NHS and such like? half the trouble is that we have de-skilled a lot of Britans in the work place. It's not going to be easy in the months after Brexit, nobody believes that, but we can and will come through it, and I believe we will be just as strong as we are now, maybe even better in the future.
