Project Fear: Britain with a 0.4% recession in December

The UK economy shrank by 0.4 per cent in December amid deepening uncertainty about the country’s future after Brexit. Analysts had predicted zero growth for the month.
The latest official data showed GDP suffered a sharp slowdown during the final three months of 2018, expanding by just 0.2 per cent between October and December, down from 0.6 per cent in the previous three months.
Annual growth dropped to a six-year low of 1.4 per cent in 2018, with economists warning the slowdown would likely continue into this year unless a Brexit deal is agreed.
In addition to Brexit, Britain’s economy is also facing a fallout from a trade war between the US and China, and weakness in the eurozone where Italy has fallen into its third recession in a decade.
The services sector, which includes a range of industries from hospitality to accountancy, grew 0.3 per cent over the quarter but manufacturing shrank 0.9 per cent, the Office for National Statistics said.

How was Germany doing for the same period? Worst figures for 5 years wasn't it? Who apart from USA are doing any good?
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

Not the title though. The rest is a copy & paste job from the source.

The ONS has released its first estimate of GDP growth for 2018 Q4 at 0.2%, giving an initial figure of 1.3% growth for the year. Growth is sluggish across Europe, particularly in Italy and Germany – the UK is still comfortably in the middle of the road, with the European Commission itself putting the UK on a par with France and the Eurozone average for its 2019 forecast

Its not really project fear if it is a factual event.

Project fear is like saying army on the streets, no food, no medicine.....that is project fear.

Just a bit of rabble rousing in my opinion.

The problem with sources these days, is that they can be a little biased, one way or t'other. The Independent has a certain well known agenda it follows.

Indeed - I notice the Indy left out this snippet from the official release. Wonder why?

Monthly GDP estimates are much more volatile than quarterly GDP estimates, with almost one in every four months in the past 21 years showing negative GDP growth

If people want to provide factual events and statistics they really should provide links or its just propaganda.
