    Well, as a Labour Party member, I might disagree with the guy on a number of things. But on a human level, I have no reason to regard him as anything other than a well meaning and decent human being.

    Also on a human level, cancer is a terrible thing that could be waiting in the wings for any of us down the road. It is no respecter of good or bad, left or right, conservative, liberal, or socialist. We get it or we don't. If we get it, we fight it. We may win that fight. Or we may not. But it is not something I would wish on anybody.

    I wish him well in his fight against this.

    If he died tomorrow, at 77 he's had a good innings and he's had a lasting significant effect on the political landscape. I have some respect for him as he is a man of principles, not like so many contemporary politicians.
