Not sure why we’re indulging this trolling — good, healthy food is cheap throughout the UK. Shame if people are unable to turn the basics into appetising, nourishing meals, but that’s not the fault of the government or the ineffectual mayor. Fault should be laid fairly and squarely at the doors of lazy parenting and socialist politicians raising expectations that everyone should be provided with three course meals without working for them..

I agree PP. Stick to staples rather than exotics and processed, like most all of us used to do in the 70s and before. I think I might go all bumpkin this year and harvest some nettles. Long time since my mother fed them to us, but I believe that steamed, they taste like spinach. But spinach, nooooo. Kids can't have that. Put pressure on the parents, and voila, a pizza appears instead.

I suspect you and other here have not noticed just how much prices have risen over the last few months. Good healthy food is NOT cheap.

Anyone with a little intelligence the will to spend some time and effort can find recpes and methods to produce healthy food cheaply, btw typing in CAPITALS does not reinforce nor confirm the veracity of your argument.

You are assuming abilities you have yourself apply to all. They don't. I know how expensive fresh fruit and veg has got recently other here appear not to have noticed or they have so much income they don't know what expensive is to the many millions of people on low incomes.

Don't forget fruit and veg are seasonal. Spring and early summer are not the time to get local produce unless grown under glass or in heated poly tunnels. Much of such produce will be imported, mostly from outside the EU. I would expect it to be more expensive.

In Cornwall veg has a much earlier season.

Oh come on, Cornwall does not feed the whole country and, as you know, when anything is in short supply the price is higher. And mid-May is early for even sunny Cornwall!
