That referenda be legally binding and not rerun before a term of ten years has passed, any attempt to overturn before the due date would result in being stripped of citizenship all assets and banished to live in Brussels.![]()
If you had the absolute power to create just one more new UK law, what would it be?
I would legally mandate that - tax loopholes not withstanding - it would be illegal and considered tax evasion to pay less than 30% of any income above £50k earned in the UK in tax. 30% would become the legally binding minimum no matter what loopholes are employed. It would be a legally binding floor below which contributions could not be reduced.
Easy enough to put in law and extremely difficult to evade without breaking the law.

The death penalty for mega tax evaders and confiscation of all their money and assets.

Many members of both sides would be, yes. And the referendum would had to have been declared null and void and re-run after a cooling off period, lol. Boris and Farage, Osborne and Cameron, would all be doing serious time by now, hahaha. As would many tabloid editors, lol.
You are free to come up with any law you want - serious or frivolous, partisan or not. But I feel free to criticise any that seem unduly partisan or which I think are just plain wrong. If you don't like the answer don't ask the question
Besides which, taking your law at face value, I suggest an amendment to it. If any referendum result requires the negotiation of all sorts of new arrangements that were unclear at the time of the referendum, it should be legally permissible to have another referendum on those terms once they become known. Laws which allow referendums based upon guesswork, lies, wishful thinking and scare tactics and in total ignorance about the final outcome, yet criminalise and outlaw more informed votes, do not respect the will of the people nor facilitate informed decisions. I am not saying that a second referendum on the final terms should be mandatory - though there is a case for that - but it certainly shouldn't be illegal.

We in the Labour Party are of course opposed to mega tax dodging. And want to go after these people hard.
However, we'd never get elected if we suggested lining them up against a wall, lol.
And death is a little extreme, don't you think? A few years in jail, with confiscation of assets for the worst offenders of course if they have broken the law to evade taxes. They are costing us far more than welfare cheats.
Dodging millions illegally merits serious jail time for sure, but is not in the same morally odious league as rapists, murderers and paedophiles.
The law is enough of an ass already. The last thing it needs is to be made even more of one, with ridiculously draconian sentences.

Well that is my party leader's strength.
Agree with him or not, Corbyn is one of those rare things in politics today - a politician who says exactly what he thinks and thinks exactly what he says. An honest politician. And you know how rare those are. That is part of the secret of his appeal to the young. When his opponents smear him with lies, it therefore runs the risk of being highly counter-productive to them, potentially reinforcing his image as the honest politician in comparison to them. Especially now that their wealthy chums in charge of the press no longer control the narrative for those below retirement age anymore, this largely having been lost to the internet where you don't have to be rich to reach the public.
Corbyn is actually a much under-estimated (by our opponents) asset to our party because of this.
