I have just come back from Seville. The number of Spanish flags flying from balconies is quite remarkable. Many still bearing the creases from when they were packed. It would seem that Andalucía favours unity.

It's rather pleasing that the Supreme Court has withdrawn the EWA for Carles Puigdemont

    - and four others.
Perhaps they should release the other 2 political prisoners whilst they are having second thoughts.

El País are now talking up that the constitutional parties will get more votes in the election, although further down the page it says the secessionists will win more seats.
So it will be a "Hillary" type victory for the constitutional parties, i.e. they lose.
El País are also talking up the involvement of the government in restricting and countering comments by "Russian bots" on social media.
I can't believe how partisan this newspaper is.

Election day today. We wait with bated breath to see how the pro Madrid and pro independence parties do and what Madrid's reaction will be.
Hopefully there won't be any voters beaten up by the police today.

It's not over yet. Puigdemont has been arrested in Germany whilst there were violent scenes back home in Barcelona.

Does the Spanish system really think they can lock these people up for 30 years - then the problem will go away?

And arrested in Germany who have had little to say about the way these people are being treated by their fellow Europeans,so busy telling us about our obligations to the EU and Ireland but silent about this.
Since 1945 how often was the legitimacy of a general election result questioned and how many received 52% of the vote?

    That's German realpolitik in action.

The UK is at it as well.
Help Clara Ponsati resist Spanish persecution This crowdfunder is raising funds to help meet her legal costs
https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/defendclara/ What the Spanish are doing to the members of the Catalan Government is an affront to democracy!!!.
Clara is faced with a lengthy prison sentence if the Spanish get their way!!!

STOP THE SPANISH IN THEIR TRACKS. NO MORE POLITICAL PRISONERS

The European arrest warrant of course being the way the Spanish have asked for Clara Ponsati's extradition will mean she has little chance of appeal let alone a fight . The whole point of it is to by-pass National legal systems in extradition cases . In short she will be on her way anytime soon .
The worrying part for me though is that Mayhem seems keen on retaining ties to many of the 'security' arrangements that we have signed up to including the EAW .

The only way for us to protect political refugees is to come out of the EU justice system when we leave the EU , unfortunately for Clara it has come too late .
