All we need to do is wait, and the SNP will lose more seats.

I'm reasonably informed that they are performing miserably at local levels...

It's all about the country you self identify with.

    I self identify as British.

Not English or a European citizen.

Other people have different loyalties to me. But those are mine.

There is no double standard. This isn't about independence or economics or democracy.
    It's a about nationality.
Who do I care about enough to give my life for.
Who is strong enough and like minded enough to be of use to me in battle. To be welcomed under my flag.
Who will commit his life to me for no greater reason than we share the same history. The same locality.
If that is you, it is me too.

    If not, jog on.

I must admit, I consider myself British first, English second. I also consider my friends in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales as my countrymen. Not as conquered people who have to do what English people tell them. I mean it might once have been like that, but not anymore.

I think the SNP leader of Westminster failed to get elected.
    Scalp taken at the top.

So she has dodged a bullet.

    well said baffy.

    Exactly.

Your self identity is a powerfull thing.

Its something that develops through interaction with family friends and the community you live in .

Some on here think self identity is something a politician or civil servant give you in terms of nationality when they hand you out a bit of paper called a travel document and it says british.

    Im scottish and european.

Next local election will do that.
    I expect loses too.

When are they next up for renewal?

Local Elections were held in May. You really don't keep up do you! However byelections will give a good indication of support for the SNP. There is one in Moray (Elgin North) on 13th July (an Independent was elected in May and lasted 4 days before deciding it was not for him).

We don't need too. The SNP is pretty much a one trick pony ("everything is the fault of the b*st*rd English") and, if it hasn't peaked, probably isn't far off.

I see myself as English first, but I have no objections to Thomas and his fellow Scots dying in my nation's battle line. It seems natural somehow.
