    Turkey starts its EU bid

There was me thinking it was already a done deal with Turkey making an effort of stemming refugees.

I'd rather have the migrants than Turkey.
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

I like the Turks, I just don't want the bill.

Nice place Turkey, but its economy is bouncing around on the ribs of its arse and I imagine that the UK will be expected to rub it better with vast wedges of sterling.

Let the Turks in without the Kurds, who have, I'm sure, no wish to be European. And make entry dependent on handing back western Armenia.

There are many migrants in Europe already who have no wish to be European .What makes you think the Kurds would be any different to those who want to turn Europe into some sort of parallel shithole to the one they have left ?
Not to mention that discrimination against any ethnic group would be against their human rights

Maybe its time we just got out

if you leave a place, it is seldom with the ambition of copying its faults, and is mostly, as with America, a question of making money. To face the Turks with the choice between the EU and bullying colonialism would put the stoppers on their entry. And it is way, way past time we got out.

You may like them, but I am sure that you won't like the potentially HUGE numbers that will move West. Admittedly Germany will most likely be destination of choice.

When I was in Istanbul I liked the Turks I met very much, as I do Americans. But both are schizophrenic and support insane and very nasty policies. But then. so do the French.
