A lost soul trying to figure out the N. Ireland Conflict...

I was wondering if anybody knew of any good books on the history of the N. Ireland conflict and if you could pass on title my way???? My knowledge is pretty limited since, let's face it, I'm American.
I must be butter because I'm on a roll.

I don't know of any books that could explain the NI conflict to you. It is an ongoing situation which I thought an American had 'cured' a few years back! It was in fact an American George Mitchell, who helped to setup the 'Peace Process' which most of us thought had ended the NI problem. Unfortunately Americans of Irish descent had been funding the Irish Republican Army for many years in a mistaken attempt to end the crisis, whereas they were actually fueling the conflict.

It has been going on for up to 800 years if you believe Wikipedia, so unlikely to end soon!

Try "Northern Ireland: Conflict and Change" by Jonathan Tonge, it seems to have had some good professional reviews and is available from Amazon.

Good to see you back again Claire, but let's face it, you might be American but many of your views are far from what we'd call 'typically American'!

Here is a quick summary There are two sides The US, Britain and the rest of the Banking dictatorships vassal states on the other the IRA (Real IRA CIRA ). In between you have ordinary people who just want to get on. MI5 , the CIA etc look after the banker's interests and the IRA folk look after their own. In between you have ordinary people who are their victims, the people both sides live off. Yeah there are loyalists but to be fair they are happy to take the money from the EU(bankers in disguise) fund for peace and reconciliation. Hope it has been helpful.
